Ball pythons are generally laid back and docile. But on Sunday Brody was agitated. I took her out of the enclosure and did a full cleaning and fresh coconut husk substrate. She went in calmly, checked it out for a while and then again seemed to want to get out. In the middle of the day.
I left the door open and the snake moved really quickly to get out. Usually they’re cautious and slow – but not this time.
Had Brody out for over an hour. Most of the time she was in or tucked behind plastic tub while I was cleaning the terrarium, but then I handled for about 20 minutes and let her move around freely.
Close up in the tub, on paper towels:
Handling and letting the snake ‘handle’ me.
All cleaned up
Found poop and shed skin in back right corner, did complete cleaning of cage and decor.
The little leopard ball python has been eating well. Taking a f/t pinky rat every 5 days for the past month. I have 3 more and once they’re gone, will try moving her up to fuzzies.
Picked up a 6 month old female leopard pastel ball python on October 25, 2015.
